Just beginning...

So I've been drawing off and on for roughly 19 years so far but have only gotten serious with it relatively recently. I remember thinking back in the day that I would be kicking myself if I didn't keep up with my art and sure enough... 19 years of drawing, sketching, painting, etc. and my skills are still mediocre (in my opinion).
I'm used to pencil, pen, marker, charcoal, and various types of paper and I've just barely started to dive into the digital realm. I've always wanted the whole setup ever since I found out about it - WACOM, PC, and Photoshop. Now that I'm going for broke, I've bought myself these items and am attempting to break into the video game arena. I specifically want to specialize in character concept art but will probably end up doing conceptual art in general. Essentially, I just want to be part of the creative process, period! Whether that's in the art department, programming, testing, project lead, creative director (one can dream, right?), music, writing, or even voice acting (a secret passion of mine).
I'm using my deviantart.com profile to document my progress not only throughout my college career, but also my progress with digital mediums and honing in my critical thinking process(es) for concepts. My ultimate goal is to rule the world, but for the short term, it's all about getting proficient with mah art skills. I want to be able to have a kick ass concept and be able to show it off with some strong and tight visuals. I'll have to really improve my patience and, as usual, build up my work ethic, but essentially I want to have my art do the following: have somebody stop and turn, view the piece for a while because it looks good, analyze the concept of the piece, and when they walk away they're still thinking about it. Oh yeah... I may not be good but I shoot for the stars!
For all those reading this: thank you and be on the look out for more stuff throughout the year. ...and I apologize for not being consistent with the updates.
